Origami pyramids made from the dust jackets (front covers) of vintage Spanish novels.

The novels are the Spanish equivalent of penguin classics first published by 'colección austral' in 1937. The covers, designed by Attilio Rossi have a distinctive geometric design which many Spaniards will instantly recognise. Each genre of book was a different colour, grey was for classics and violet for theatre and poetry.

To be perfectly honest I decided to make this piece because I have had a lot interest in the larger version I made from blue/ green colour dust jackets (see other listing), but thought a smaller piece may be just as interesting. And because I enjoy playing around with different arrangements of pyramids until I come up with a design I feel is striking.

This is a smaller 25 x 25 cm piece for which I chose to use a combination of grey, violet and pink. In the top right you can see it says 18 pesetas. I glued the spines of the dust jackets that were too damaged to be used to the back of the piece.

25 x 25 cm, and comes signed in a white frame.
